Overlooking the private garden, we can admire a majestic Ginkgo, a tree over four centuries old. This specimen was probably already here when the Maffei family took possession of the villa, due to the marriage with the Guarienti sisters. To its right, a younger female Ginkgo, distinguished by its fruits, seems almost to send a message of love to its companion.
Ginkgo biloba is revered in Asia, considered the tree of wisdom and resilience, also famous for its therapeutic properties in homeopathic medicine. A symbol of resilience, it is present in the Tokyo logo, perhaps as a reminder that, despite the devastation of the atomic bombs, the Ginkgos of Hiroshima and Nagasaki survived.
Many visitors enjoy stopping beneath the branches of this Ginkgo, feeling the positive energy emanating from its powerful trunk, a living link with history and ancient nature.
